Together with the Frankfurt press office we made a real experiment at the “Bahnhofsviertelnacht” this year. For the first time Dailyplaces QR codes were used for such a big event. The QR codes were used to receive all relevant information on the 31 stations that attended at the event. Additionally all information with address, picture and backgrounds were available at the Dailyplaces page of the Bahnhofsviertelnacht. As the pilot project was successful we think that the Dailyplaces QR code will be visible at other events in the future too.

For the first time we will be present as an exhibitor at the dmexco, the most important fair for Digital Marketing in Germany. You can find us and our partners proseed and dc storm at September 15th and 16th in hall 8 at booth A 010 at the fair in Cologne. We will present our professional solutions for location-based campaigns, local marketing at the Point of Sale (POS) as well as tools for mobile communication. Additionally we present how QR codes could be used for marketing with local target groups – so keep your eyes open for our QR codes. If you are interested in setting up an appointment with us you can use our online tool. The visit of the dmexco is free of charge.

The summer is hot in Germany this year – nevertheless we do not spend our time at the swimming pool but working at the Dailyplaces platform. Today we want to introduce three new features of the website:
As of today we launch a POI reader functionality that will give you a better overview what’s going on in your follower network. In the My News tab you will see how many new POIs of comments were published – at a single glance you will see if there are news from your followers or if somebody commented one of your POIs. Unread POIs or will be displayed with bold letters. And here is how it looks like:

But that’s not everything. It’s also possible now to add a picture to your comment – we will launch this feature also in the next update of our iPhone application. But as all good things come in threes we have another feature for you. It’s now possible to import KML-files when you create a new POI at the Dailyplaces website. This allows you to publish your tracked hike or biking tour.
Since the launch of Dailyplaces we were looking for a fresh and creative logo. We are really proud to present today the long-awaited Dailyplaces logo. Thanks to Nora Wirth who designed this great logo as well as the font. For sure we are looking forward to your feedback – hopefully you will also like the new logo.

Today starts the 17th Open Doors Festival in Neu-Isenburg. To provide visitors with mobile information regarding the different stages and bands the host is working together with us. With the Dailyplaces iPhone Applikation they have access via a proximity search to all relevant data like the position of the stages and all concerts. For sure the visitors are also able to comment on the different concerts and catch the atmosphere with own POIs.

We wish everybody a lot of fun and a great musical weekend!
At irregluar intervals we want to present you the different members of the Dailyplace team. We will begin with Jochen, who joined Dailyplaces on May 1st as a software developer.

How did you come to Dailyplaces?
Like often in life it was a kind of coincidence. A former colleague mentioned that “a friend founded a startup and is searching for a developer”. So I was brought in contact with Dailyplaces and now I’m part of the team.
What is your job at Dailyplaces?
I will start by learning about the existing system and will try to relieve our CTO from the daily, annoying work ;-) In the future, the focus of my work will be the evolution of the backend as well as the web frontend.
Why is Dailyplaces exciting for you?
For me as a developer it is exciting to actively participate in the process of creating a new platform. As a user it’s exciting to generate location-based POIs and to share them with friends and followers at Twitter and Facebook.
What are you doing if you don’t work for Dailyplaces?
I like going to concerts, love to eat an original “Frankfurter Schnitzel” with a glass of “Ebbelwoi“… and listen to the beautiful voice of my girlfriend ;-) Aditionally I developed the DB Locator in my spare time. The DB Locator is a service to identify Twitter users that are travelling in the same train.
Where in the world would you like to create a POI?
Only one POI?! Due to the fact that I travelled not that much in the past there are a lot of unexplored countries and landscapes where I would like to create a POI: New Zealand, Great Britain, US, Middle East… But first there are a lot of things to do for the Dailyplaces platform.

This week the next conference took place in Berlin. Organized by Sinner Schrader the conference is one of the most important networking and internet conferences within the German market. Due to tickets reduced in price from the German blog
Gruenderszene we were able to join the conference too.
Unfortunately Dennis Crowley, the co-founder of
Foursquare, was absent due to illness. Definitely it would have been interesting to get some news on upcoming features as well as insights into the company. But nevertheless we had the opportunity to get in touch with some companies and attendees.
Beside the talks on “Social Women” and “New Markets” we visited the App Circus, that was more or less a pitch event.
Friendticker and
Aloqa were on stage and tried to convince the audience to download their applications.

Aloqa also had an own booth and so we had the opportunity to have a conversation with them. We talked about the conference and tried to investigate the potential for a partnership.
At the end the next10 was an interesting conference for networking – but we didn’t get new insights. Remarkable was definitely the sign for the restroom. A lot of attendees – including us – had to smile.
We are happy to announce that we found a strategic partner for our Location-based Microblogging platform. The publisher Trifels Verlag GmbH will support us with capital and sales know how. Since our successful launch in December last year we have seen continuous growth with regard to users as well as functionalities. The new partnership is designed to keep this development on track and facilitate investments into infrastructure as well as new employees.
You can find the official press release “Strategic partership between the pubisher Trifels Verlag GmbH and Dailyplaces GmbH” here.
